Why do projector headlights cost so much for RAMS

I'd love to put the projectors on my truck mostly for looks but they're so damn expensive. My wife's sienna and my daughters sonata both have them as standard equipment and you can get them off ebay for $150 a piece used . Good luck finding them that cheap for a RAM.

It's just like you said, the Hyundai both use them as standard equipment so that means there are tons of them around and zero demand.

Ram uses the projectors as optional for higher or specialty trim levels meaning there aren't nearly as many out there. Also because they aren't standard and they look half decent there is a demand for them from the aftermarket and owners looking to upgrade hence driving up the price.

If you slow down and think about it, it really does make sense.

It’s not too bad. $500-$600 typically. Yeah it’s no $150 but the price isn’t to terrible.

And don't waste your money on cheap eBay versions. Condensation, light scatter, light output issues.... Not worth the money. (I tried a set & then got TYC's). Stick with OEM or TYC projectors.

I've tried tyc and eBay versions same result on water getting in. Wish I could find some oem good for good price. Till then I'm currently looking to transfer bulbs from one I recently got from a member and hope it seals up well.

You can search car-part.com, just pay attention to the legend/key at the bottom to get a good one. I bought my pass side for 250 shipped. The one I bought off ebay is in worse condition.

And really, 600 for a new one isnt bad at all. My Jeep Grand Cherokee had the bi-xenon self leveling headlights. The were $1000 per.

With the TYC projectors is the turn signal used as the DRL?

I have the quads right now (upgraded from duals) and my DRL is actually my high beam at lower power.

My truck was a fleet truck so DRL was turned on already.

I ordered them off of ebay. It was years ago but I believe I got the set for about $300 plus shipping. Then $15 for some black RTV sealant. Good to go.

Did you just run a bead along the seam? Or actually separate them and reseal them?

I always wondered if that was a simple solution and why nobody did it, it seems obvious

I ran a bead around the outside where the clear lense meets the black plastic body of the light. I did not separate them as this involved baking them apart. I didn't have any issues with them in the first place but took the extra step as a preventative measure. I had read online that the cheaper lights looked great but had condensation problems.

It has worked perfectly for me. Take your time and do a good job. Run masking tape on either side of the seam you intend to apply, This way after you put the sealant on you can pull the tape for perfect straight edges.

I’m on my 4th set of OEM projectors (between my ‘15 and ‘18) and they are the first set that have had no moisture issues. I think it’s the luck of the draw

Ended up getting a passenger headlight housing from a member only issue is the screws no longer can be used in tha dustcaps. Not that it matters. My dust caps are cut due to led lights.f4da4b89d47976bcef0267534b0acf1c.jpge0d9c533fc3ba30a2ded33504b4ec0ca.jpg56d61dcf5e56860bc9dc5643a14c35a4.jpg

The stock Quad headlights suck but it just doesn't seem cost effective to spend $500-600 on headlights and I refuse to buy a low end light that needs to be sealed. Just me. So I keep looking for something suitable.
