The blue wire from the HU is not currently hooked up (I know what its for tho).

Truck side...
Orange (which I believe to be factory dimmer)
Black/yellow

Green/red

and that single wire Black/2 green stripes

OK awesome , so one of those wires is the infinity amp wire ... if the stock unit had a tape deck witch I am sure it did in 1997 that rules out the orange , and black and yellow wires .. you wont need them as that if for the tape deck .

So that leaves the Green/red and the Black/2greens .

The Green/red is for power antenna I recall .... so you need to hook the blue amp wire to the Black/2 greens and bam ... it will work .

If I go by the crutchfield diagram, the BU(blue) wire on the adapter goes to the Green/red on the truck

They say what I am saying with a twist ... you dont need a adapter IMO

The Infinity amps can be used if an aftermarket stereo is installed. In order for amps to turn on the following must be done:

1. Connect the amp remote wire from the new radio to the BU wire on the Crutchfield adapter.
2. Connect the ground wire of the new radio to the BK/L.GN wire that was bolted onto the back of the factory radio.

Some where in those extra wires the amp needs a positive switched power source .

To find out turn the key on and get out your meter and test the 3 wires .. the one with switched 12v power is THE wire to hook the amp wire from the HU to .

Well, I just took out a test light and there are only 2 wires that I get pwr from on the truck harness and that is for the main +12v switch and the +12v constant for the HU pwr and memory

Which are the PINK and RED/white wires. No other wire has pwr with the key on or off.

By looking around I've figured out that the black/2green wire is the factory ground that was on the back of factory deck. I just can't find the amp trigger wire lol

Hence why I wish I had a copy of the factory wiring diagrams lol

I'm gonna go pull a door panel and see what wires go into the door speakers, maybe that'll give me some insight as to the amp wires. I know the tweeter doesn't have an amp on it but the 6x9 in the door does. What about the rear speakers, do they have their own amps?

Have wire colors from the speakers in the pass door to the door jamb. Man dodge didn't make things easy. They jumped to different colors every time there is a plug connection seems like. Talk about a PITA.

Well there is 4 wires that go into the amp (input side) and 2 wires coming out of the amp into the speaker. I would assume that 2 of the wires would be spkr in and the other 2 would be pwr and grd. I start tracing wires back and I end up loosing a wire somewhere inside the dash and holy crap is that a pita to look inside.

Np Dave.

If anyone else wants to help, the HU I'm actually trying to install is a DUAL XML8150 if that makes a difference.

I pm'ed him already just haven't heard back from him. Also Dave, I'm quoting one of your other threads where you kept the amps but put in new speakers.

Also ...

If your vehicle has the Infinity system, you'll connect the blue wire from the new wire harness to the amp remote wire from the new receiver. There also may be a second wire, usually green/black, attached to the factory radio chassis with the braided strap. If so, this is the ground for the Infinity amplifiers , and it must be attached to the braided strap and the replacement receiver's ground wire.

Mine doesn't have this braided strap. I know it went to the back of the stock radio chassis, but where did the other end go? This might be my issue.
