My new Ram started marking its territory in my garage this week. Last oil change was at dealer, 3k miles ago. Crawled under the truck and found filter was loose, tightened it hand tight as best I could-it's tough to reach without a lift or a pit--and will be taking it to the dealer to be checked tomorrow. I assume this is a fluke but don't understand why it was ok for 3k miles then started leaking?

As long as it's in there, I'm going to have them check the wind whistle on driver's door--it's the door, not the window as I tested it with painter's tape. I see a lot of comments on wind noise here in the forum--can the dealers actually get this licked or does it just keep coming back?

Last item for dealer to check is my fold-up center console. It jiggles at every small bump and the latch handle has an annoying rattle. Nature of the beast, or ?

Thx,
DG

Hey I have the same wind noise, how did you isolate it and please follow up with solution. My Ram has wind noise..at like above 95 MPH..kinda hard to tell the dealer that, not that I would go t the dealer. If I cant figure itout Ill get my bodyshop to figure it out.

Thanks

The rattle in the center console was the safety catch for the handle on my truck. It's a little piece of aluminum right next to the latch catch arm. I just removed it and rattle gone.

If you have had a sudden temperature drop with winter kicking in, sometime the gaskets to metal block surfaces contract just enough to start a leak. It has happened to me on occasion even though I "Kung-Foo" gripped it when putting the filter on in warmer weather.

Thanks for the input, and thanks to Ram Cares for chiming in. Dealer checked the filter today, wiped down the control arm and other bits that got oiled then washed the truck and did a bunch of flash updates to modules. On the wind noise, they couldn't repeat it and I can kinda understand that because I know it's much more pronounced when there is a side wind. Last trip I took, I stopped in the middle of nowhere and used painter's tape to seal the glass to window channel all around the window--didn't help. Next time I notice the issue I'll tape the door to body seam to verify its the door gasket area making the noise. If that quiets the noise I'll just take the truck to my favorite body shop and pay for a door adjustment/alignment. And Dirtrider--I'll check that catch tonight, thx for the suggestion.

Dealer was good and this was a N/C visit. I didn't buy the truck from this dealer but would really like to have a good and ongoing service relationship, for sure at least as long as the warranty.

Sure do like this new truck, tho!
