Default Oil pick up tube attached to pan?
Trying to pull the pan on my 2004 2500 5.7l 4wd. Ive got all the pan bolts removed and the pan is free of the block, but it won't drop down more than a half an inch. It feels like it is huge up on something, I'm curious if the oil pick up tube somehow bolts to the inside of the oil pan. Any one have any experience with this?

There should be just enough room to slip a wrench inside and unbolt the pickup tube from the underside of the block. Once it's unbolted you can drop the pickup tube and the pan should slide back.

It's in the front on the passenger's side, 14 or 15 mm nut I can't remember which. I've had my oil pan off a couple times this way.

you know if it's necessary to replace the windage tray when you're trying to replace oil pan gasket? Everything in the service manual says the gasket is "integral part of windage tray". I'm just trying to make sure I won't need to run to dealer again in the morning.

Yeah, like it was mentioned in your other thread, the gasket is built into the windage tray.
