So I would really like to lift my truck, and I am. But as it sits now I need to save up for a bit before I want to take the plunge into lifting it. So in the mean time I have decided to get a leveling kit and lower it a bit. I just don't know what to get, I don't want to spend a lot because I'm going to eventually lift it but I need a new look, thanks. (Ps I am not looking to be very low but something that looks good with 20's).

Shackles and removing the overload spring gets you close to level.

Be careful though, you may get bit by the bug and then lowering gets more expensive than lifting.

The bug is there no doubt. Since you're wanting to lift later, I'd leave the overload spring in, or at least keep it so you can put it back in later

If you want to lift it why spend anything to lower it an not just wait til you can lift it?

I was thinking it, but I'm a giant a-hole in real life and try to be nice on the internet. I figure it throws people off, since normally the opposite is true.

If you are wanting something different in the mean time before you can afford your lift it, Why don't you get Bilstein shocks, new upper control arms to level it out, and then get new rims, and then 35s. That's pretty much how I did mine, just a little bit at a time. This way you won't lose any money/time lowering it.

Eh mostly because from what I've heard it's not too expensive to lower but also to just experiment I guess.

It's not too expensive to put lowering shackles in, but it's like lifting a truck after that. The lower you go, the more expensive it gets if you want it done right.

4/6 lowering kit - 700.00
Drop shackles - 80.00
Belltech Street Performance Shocks - 230.00
Helper bags if you want to tow anything - 300.00
tie rod flip - 250.00
relocation brackets for upper control arms - 200.00
I can't weld, so I have probably 400.00 into welding between the c-notch, helper bag brackets and upper control arm relocation brackets.

Everyone thinks you just cut some springs and stick some blocks or shackles into a lowered truck, but there's a lot of stuff going on. Add in the wear parts that you find as you're going through everything and it gets expensive quickly. I just listed the basics to do a 5/8 drop correctly, I'm going 6/12 and gathering parts now. You can add at least $1500-2000 for me to go another inch in the front and 4 more inches in the rear and still have a truck that rides and handles nicely.
