Hi guys
I finally start a replacing process of both front CV axles. I also decided to replace all ball joints, breaks and rotors. Passenger side went smooth but the driver side is pain in the butt. I just can't remove the cv axle from trans axle. I tried sliding hammer , prybar , piece of wood and hammer and anything I can get from garage. The seal at the end of axle was damaged so I assume shaft is pretty rusted where cv axle and trans shaft are joined. What are my other options to get it off? Angle grinder? Or just replace everything except cv axle housing? Guys I really need help with this. My truck been like that for over a week and I just don't know what else to do.

Have you tried soaking the joint in penetrating oil over night? I recommend liquid wrench.

Yes I did. But not sure if it's even working properly since the housing is still mounted on the differential shaft. I was able to remove a cap in the back of housing to expose shaft. Tried this tool https://www.harborfreight.com/bearing-separator-and-puller-set-62593.html (clamp in the back of housing and screw on shaft) still nothing. I'm so frustrated right now (almost two weeks trying to fix it) that I'm probably just going to take a sawzall and try to cut it off and replace the shaft with new one.

I can't visualize what you're trying to remove. Can you take a few pictures?

I wouldn't cut anything off, that housing gives you a place to push against. So the short shaft that goes into the differential is stuck in there correct?

Have you tried heating the housing where it's stuck? It might need to heat and cool several times. That might work.

My other suggestion would be to use a few small quick clamps to push against the housing and the differential. a130ac68e156f07b68a10bbdc5c662b1.jpg

Last night I said that's it!!!! So I took my grinder and cut the sucker off. Did same thing as this guy did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU6NX5BU6jU .
I measured clip groove distance from edge of the neck of old one and cut the housing little bit before the clip so I'm able to slide it off then remove the clip and back of piece.
I got tired of all the work I put into it before....slide hammer , home made pullers , bearing puller , crowbar , etc. Tried anything possible and that sucker won't come off. Cutting did the job. I don't care about $5 core charge at autozone. I'm really happy that it's finally off. Since I'm working on the axle anyway decided to replace the shaft seal also. Now I have to get new clip too.

As you can see on the photo below it looks like when I tried to pull off the back piece the clip is pushed upward. Maybe that is why I wasn't able to remove it74a593fc0f072f0b8c285150bc18c2c8.jpg

Yes. I should have done that a week ago. Now I need the clip that holds cv axle on shaft and shaft seal.

My next suggestion was a service manual. There are a few threads on this forum with download links that still work. Dodge factory service manuals should be able to help you solve any problem in the future.

Okay...I replaced both axles , front and rear rotors and pads. Now my ABS and brake light is on. While I was putting together driver side somehow the brake/abs cable got caught between axle outer housing and bearing housing. It got squeezed really hard. I removed it and everything looked good. Is this might be the problem?
