I can get an extang tonneau cover that was on a 2001 ram 1500 short bed for cheap. Does anyone know if it will fit my 05?

100% positive. If its actually a 2nd gen cover and it fits your truck without HEAVY modification, i'll send you a check for the cost of the tonneau.

Measure your bed then measure the cover assembled that will give you the best idea.

I wasn't doubting you. I was just hoping to get one for a good deal since I could use one for a road trip I am going on the first week of august. Oh well guess I have to keep looking

I've heard the same thing--it wont work. I'm looking to get one but the one I want is around 800 bucks --so I'll be waiting a while.

yea i had a soft one and it was touching the back of the cab and when i took it off it rubbed the paint off to bare metal!! i was not a happy camper! i could modify it but im waiting to get a new tailgate

Other than rubbing the cab, did it fit ok. For the price I can get this for, I might be able to make it work if that is the only problem.

yea worked pretty good! i never had a problem! i was gonna try to move it back further, it would probably hang over the tailgate a little but nothing crazy! even if you buy it and it doesnt work you can always sell it again!

Why not just ask a 2nd gen guy to measure his bed? Then you'll have 100% certainty that it won't fit.

i thought the 2nd gen short beds where 6'6", 3rds are 6'3"

Just buy one made for a 3rd gen, they are all over CL cheap and it will save you the headache of trying to make it fit.

I have been looking, I haven't found **** for a 3rd gen on CL or Pennswoods.
