2003 ram 1500 ac problems

Okay so it works fine until i switch it to to defrost nothing changes. Then i have to play with hot and cold back and fourth for it to switch hot or cold. Sometimes it works instant defrpst hot but hardly ever. Any ideas are these problems connected or two different problems thanks

Sounds like you have failing blend doors in the dash. Heater Treater sells replacement metal blend doors instead of the stock plastic that will fail again eventually.

+1 on the blend doors. Very common issue on the Ram.

Blend doors seem to be an issue on a lot of newer vehicles.
You'd think with all the other tech advancements they'd get the basics nailed down. And unlike the old days, now you gotta dismantle the entire dash to do anything.
