I'm one step closer to getting my system done. Here's my box. What I did was first cut the factory material that is under the seats in the shape of the planned box. I then took MDF and created a frame to be placed directly on top of the cuts. I then fiberglassed it using 3 packages of fiberglass matting and 2 gallons of resin. It's rock solid now. After I did that, I popped out the fiberglass shell and since I cut it in the very beginning it popped out with ease. I then cut the MDF top panel, attached it with screws and construction adhesive and then upholstered it with felt material that most speaker boxes come with. It fits great and has a LOT more air space than a store bought box. I estimate it to be a total of 2.75 CF. Notice that mine, unlike store bought boxes, go all the way to the back wall of the cab. I also built mine a little taller and ended up raising the rear seats 5/8" to clear it. That was simple, you just put in 5/8" spacers under the seats where they bolt to the cab.Tomorrow the 12" W3s go in and I'll be installing my 2 Sets of JL Audio C2-650s in the doors and this project will be a wrap.

Looks great! But, when I saw fiber glass box, I was kinda under the impression you were going to fiber glass the whole box. And paint it to match, like your amp rack.

thats some really good work man, but I cant believe you didnt port that box

Two reasons. First, no where near enough air space. It requires 3.5cf to properly build a ported box for two 12" w3V3-2 subs. The second reason, ported boxes are more for db and sealed boxes are more for sound quality. I'm not worried about db so I'll sacrifice the extra 3db for better sound quality.

I really wanted to, but the top of the box would have to be flat to utilize all of the available space so rather than fiberglassing the top, I figured it would be smarter to just use MDF. I love working with fiberglass, but just couldn't make it happen in this application. Here's one of my favorite things that I've ever fiberglassed. This is the dash of my old show truck.
