Newbie here. Just finished installing the audio controls and the new front switch with the V/R and "phone" buttons. Just wanted to thank you for a wonderful write up with great pics. It went just as easy as you say. Just have to take your time and not be in a hurry.
Next is footwell and underhood lights.
This forum rocks!!!

Once again, Thanks

Thanks for the post. A couple of things... I put locktite back on the steering wheel bolt (factory had some so I reapplied), the "spring" clocking can easily be checked/fixed by lining up the arrows at the approximate 7 oclock position, there is a left and right radio button but if you put them in the wrong hole, it is easy to switch out.

Excellent upgrade and thanks for the posts.

How in the hell are you guys getting a puller on this wheel?

Good luck !

I can't get an even pull on the wheel with my 3 finger puller because of the connectors at the top of the wheel. Guess I need to eat my Wheaties and try yanking on it.

The second time I pulled mine off, I just yanked it. I'm not sure if I could have done it the first time or not, but I used the same method as when I pulled one off a column I bought (no way to yank with the column outside a truck).

I couldn't believe these wheels aren't threaded for steering wheel pullers and none of my 3 jaws would fit. So, I ended up using my steering wheel puller but instead of threading into the wheel I ran the bolts through the holes in it and put nuts and washers on the backside. It worked like a charm.

Wheel removal?

What The Flipp?, I can't get that far! Spent 2 hours working on the air bag. Beautiful day, all the time I needed, couldn't get one clip off! Moved to emptying beer cans.

To see better use an inspection mirror or if you have a smart phone ,prop it up on the cluster and turn on the camera and flip camera to the front as I did , this worked like a charm for me .

To dislodge the 3ea tabs I used a snap on cotter pin removal tool , this tool works great .

Another tip is apply slight pressure pulling the airbag towards you while removing the clips , if you don't the clip will snap back into place and your starting over .

I also recomend jacking the front of the truck Untill it's light on the tires to aid in turning the wheel to get to all the clips .

Hope this helps !

Using your phones camera as a mirror works great! Couldn't of done it without it.
