Uconnect 8.4 & 8.4an update - 17.11.07

Dang, my 2014 truck is apparently still "up to date" with the 16 software.

Keep Trying, a 15 8.4AN I bought on eBay kept saying up to date or a error, then all of a sudden I was able to download the 17.xx update.

So I messed up last night and had the truck do the update. I was trying to change the radio station and I put the truck in park which brought up the upgrade screen. I wasn't paying attention and green lit the update. I'd been canceling the update for a couple of months because of some of the problems that I'd read about around here and on other forums. The update went fine and it looks like everything is working the way it should be.

Yup. Its a evidently a big enough update that they have to wipe a lot of your settings to implement it properly. I had to set mine all back up again. That being said, I do like it. Only small complaint is it does lag a little bit more compared to the old software. No issues otherwise. My truck got it over-the-air just fine.

The wife's 2014 Grand Cherokee doesn't seem to be able to get it over the air for some reason. We took it to the twin cities the other day (almost 8 hour drive, there and back), thought for sure it'd get the update over-the-air after that, strong Sprint signal the entire time, but nope. So I will see how badly I can muck it up with the USB stick method tomorrow.

I'd like to read the service bulletin, but I can't seem to find it no matter how I type it into google. Anyone have a website where I can go to look at it? I'm not a fan of installing things without knowing what they are going to do. The 8.4AN radio seems to be working just fine. On a side note, I'm loving the new truck...

Thanks ramcares. I don't have any of the conditions and I can already drag/drop, configure autoplay, and set a do not disturb. It looks like what I would get are various 'improvements'. I have version 16.51.19 and think I'll sit on it for a while...

After waiting on the phone for a half hour I was told the site was having problems and to try again later. So I did all night... nothing... now today same thing!

The last update...siri was nice but, I would get in the truck and think the audio was turned down. Slowly turn the audio up... nothing, then it would come on blaring with a 1 year old in the back seat. The radio would be frozen... nothing I could do but pull over get my daughter out and wait for the music to turn down whenever it finally woke up. I learned quickly not to do that anymore. been waiting on this update. It freezes randomly... sometimes for 15 mins. before it wakes up.

I upgraded my 5.0 RA2 to the 8.4N and when I first plugged this in from infotainment it had all the apps and the "controls" icon soft key. After a couple of key cycles my Ram has a bunch of apps in the apps menu with "no name" and the controls are missing. The 8.4 I got from infotainment came out of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee so not sure if that has something to do with it. I have done the basic stuff (factory reset) no luck it is running software 17.11.07 so it appears it is up to date. Rick on the forums suggested that since mine is a 2015 that the BCM would most likely not have the "controls" button programmed and hence the reason why it is not showing up and have no idea why a bunch of them say no name. Any ideas?

Have you performed a factory reset with it installed in your truck yet? If not start there.

Just did the factory reset this morning and didnt change anything. It did load up as expected with the SRT screen and uconnect in the background theme.

Sorry for the delay. If you bought this through infotainment directly I would not troubleshoot any further without their guidance. They charge a premium and that means (to me) that they should back up their sale with service.

To be honest, your issue is new to me. Haven't seen this one yet. If you didn't purchase it directly from infotainment then my next move would be reflashing the firmware appropriate for the radio part number.
