How fast do your door locks operate? Are they REALLY REALLY fast? Like....nitrous injected door locks would be? :)

Im just gonna throw out a guess: nitrogen air in the tires + wheel locks = nitro locks "package".
I'll time the door locks lol. I don't have wheel locks on it, but I'm not sure on the nitrogen in the wheels. I know they don't have nitrogen in them now since I took them off day 1.

Got a question: My Laramie with the 8.4 Nav; how the hell does one turn the radio off? I mean, i can push the button below the screen that says "screen off" or whatever or i can hit the mute button but there is no actual knob or button to turn the radio off. What do you use?

Not possible to turn it off, its not just a 'radio' and is tied to too many systems in your truck.

My new truck had the dealer transfer invoice under the passenger seat. There was an extra charge on it for mud flaps and nitro locks dealer installed. The dealer that sold me the truck doesn't know what nitro locks are and neither do I. Any ideas. Flaps and locks were a 700 charge to my dealer.

I'd bet it is for your door/tailgate power locks.

I called the original dealer the truck was transferred from today and they didn't know either, but told me it probably had custom wheels and lock nuts on it as an upgrade and they may have taken them back off to put on another truck. That would explain the fact that the limited wheels on my truck were not available for 2017 ,but were still on my truck. 2 Mysteries solved?

Yeah I don't think there's any way to actually turn off the radio. Just the Mute and Screen Off functions.

Like I said, on my 2012, I have the 730N, and the volume button turns it off/on per the owners manual, and per real life.

Same as I have on my 2011, which is easy to turn off. Much better unit in my opinion than the new 8.4 ones, which you can't. You can turn the screen off and mute the radio so it seems off, but not actually turn it off. Seems to me you have to keep it on all the time anyways since so much is integrated into it. Not saying that's a good thing.

Pretty sure those options are all you get.

Whoops, should have read all the way down before I echoed all the others!

my 2017 has a stock wrangler SRA 285 60 20 on a 20" steel rim as a spare from the factory so it probably does.

Good to know. The higher end Rams came with a full size spare.

I was surprised to see that a full size truck came with a temp spare when I crawled under mine.

You get used to the radio not being able to be turned off in the 8.4. I just turn my volume down to zero (not using mute button) before I turn off the truck. Not hard, just different. No more different than getting used to a turn knob for a shifter, which I still find cool.

Some Rams do come with a full size spare. My father's 2015 Laramie came with a temp spare, he was a bit upset. My Longhorn came with a full size, and I currently have an oversized spare in there to match my slightly oversized tires (275/65R20). It does fit.

I was wondering if a 275 65 20 would fit as that's the size I have on my truck. I figured it would, but was also concerned about how close to the exhaust it would be.

Same here. And I don't even hardly listen to the radio. I either use media or keep things low or off and listen to the Hemi. Tapping that mute button on the knob is super easy. Twisting the knob is super easy. You can also lower the volume all the way down with the button on the steering wheel. I don't know what more we need? Lol

A full size spare (same size that came OEM in your truck) will fit. As another said the full size is usually the same tire as in your truck but on a steel rim.
The problem you run into is your going to have to mount your tire on the steel rim. That’s due to the tire lift uses a cable and “T” end that goes through the center of the steel rim. Most aftermarket rims don’t have an open center.

It is a little close, but its been that way for a few thousand miles now or more, and I've checked, no ill effects I can see. Its definitely not making any contact with the exhaust pipe.

Its just different. Some people adjust to change better than others. I honestly thought the lack of an off button for the radio was dumb at first, so did my wife (her 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's 8.4 is very similar). We quickly adapted though, and now if you asked us, we wouldn't request an off button be added. No longer necessary.
