Mufflex with the magnaflow will be going on my 6.4 this weekend. What If i dont like it

Supposedly this part # only fits the trucks with the leaf springs in the rear 2500 & 3500 year 2014 and up. There is a different part number for the 2500s with the coil springs

I enjoy mine. You can pick out some drone here and there. Mainly on the highway I guess. But nothing bad IMO. Now the truck sounds like a beast on cold starts. Louder than my cat backed 1500 did. Just not as "clean" sounding as the 1500. Then it mellows down to a nice burble. When my wife drives it away from the house I can hear it rumbling away. WOT its quite loud. I think it suits this truck well.

If you pull off the resonator with this muffler it gets extremely loud compared to factory. You'd think it had a totally different engine in it. Even with the resonator still on it’s night and day. Can't believe how quiet it was stock.

Great thing about this is, bolt in do it yourself with no welding or cutting required. If you hate it, just pull it off lol.

Oh, I should say. My 1500 had a Magnaflow Catback with the medium sized mufflers. I don't remember the exact sizes now. I'd say overall the 6.4 is a little louder now with just the small muffler swap. I guess this truck sounds more unrefined. But I don't care. Suits it's personality.

I am close to putting in the new S&B intake, if we ever get a Saturday with decent weather around here. Interested to see if it makes the truck any louder.

It will take some time to burn in but I really liked the Magnaflow on my 6.4L HEMI. That Mufflex will be even louder!

I have the mufflex/Maggie on my 2500 and it has the air springs in the rear, no leafs. Not sure why they would have a different part number for leaf springs unless the OEM exhaust is different as well. It literally is just the muffler with a small segment of piping swapped out.

I know a lot of members like the mufflex but I'm patiently waiting to spend even more money on the Corsa when/if it ever comes out. the drone during cruising speed even with MDS turned off is painful, it just booms in my cabin, worse with the AC turned on. But I'm old and fussy so may be that too.

I've been contemplating going back to OEM. but clearly it doesn't bother me enough to outweigh my overall laziness to actually crawl back under my truck.

I don't think any '14-up 2500s have leafs at all.

There are some vids on Youtube also, not the best measuring stick because nothing ever sounds the same in video, but it's something.

I listened to both on the split screen back and forth, hard to tell the difference. I am planning the mufflex DOD250035 with the magnaflow muffler, and keeping that little garbage can dragging underneath my truck, for now.

Mufflex came today. Its a 6” OD muffler. That would be only 1.25” thick muffler packing around the outside of our 3.5” pipe.

Edit: should sound good

Well... its on. Not as loud as i was hoping but close. Ill let it settle in and then remove the resonator next. Then muffler delete if needed.

I think mine has got as much as 30% louder since I put it on. I remember a part of me was thinking it wasn't as loud as I was hoping when I first put it on but after some miles I just forgot. Now I'm happy with the sound. I took a long 1600 mile trip not long after putting mine on and I think that helped it break in a lot. For a daily driver I would have to say I think mine's perfect now.

But I still have been having thoughts of just pulling off the resonator though, and dumping the exhaust out to the side after the muffler, just because, HEMI. But feel like that might get very old on the highway.

I think the fact that I have a crew cab 8 foot bed makes it seem quieter to me because its so far away from The driver seat. But when walking around when the truck is warm idling it’s definitely not as loud as I was hoping.

Hope it breaks in as you say. But im almost positive the resonator will be coming off.

Thank you guys for the input. Much appreciated.

Im going to give it a month at least. Then decide. Let the packing carbon up and firm up some. It will get louder then. Ill re-post here at that time.
