UPDATE:

I went this morning to pick up the truck since they said it was "ready to be picked up" and they advised me that when both managers drove it, they didn't see anything wrong with it and that it can be "normal". I asked for the manager and two managers came up to me and said that they both drive "DEMO 2019 Rams" and they both do what my truck has bee doing which is 100% ********. I called Chrysler and had them open a special case on the truck.

Chrysler also told me to take it to another dealer tomorrow and once it's there they will get notified and my case manager will contact me to let me know what's going to get done. I will keep everyone posted.

Hi Sergio,

I am terribly sorry to hear that you have these concerns with your 2019 Ram. This is certainly not the experience that we want our Ram owners to have with their vehicles. Please send us a PM with your VIN or case number. I would be happy to look into this further for you.

While new vehicle issues are frustrating its good to get them documented to help future customers. I'm very interested in the 2019 RAM when I replace my '15 Charger later this Summer, but may pick up an '18 if these issues continue to surface. I'm old-school and believe reliability and dependability are more the drive-train and as long as the vehicle always takes me from point A to B its doing its job, but the leaking issues and brake issues are inexcusable. That's shoddy QC and should be the last complaint we're hearing. Any issues with the infotainment should be easy software updates. Every brand is suffering from those, except Toyota/Lexus because they never change that ****. My buddy's new GMC Sierra radio freezes all the time. Hell, I might just stick with my '06 Silverado, that thing's bulletproof

Well we had an actual monsoon rain wise here and I could only stare and try and make out where my truck was in the driveway. Needless to say since I had just gotten it back from the leaking water debacle, I was paranoid about what I would find.

Once it slowed down enough that I could go out to it, imagine my feeling of trepidation as I reached for the door handle. Opened up the door where the leak was and behold it was bone dry. I even turned it around in the driveway to ensure no runoff was entering. Happy to report that all was good there. :)

Sergio, I have the 8.4" U-Connect, and about 2 weeks after picking it up, the backup camera wouldn't come on in reverse (or through the settings screen). That lasted for a day, then was all of a sudden working again. That was 2 weeks ago. Hasn't happened since.

Regarding the brakes, when I got my new wheels and tires installed this past week, I noticed that the brakes now squeak slightly. I guess the extra weight of the new tires/wheels are causing it? Or maybe the tire shop got something on a caliper that is causing it? First, I'm going back to the tire shop tomorrow. If they can't figure it out, I'm going to go to the dealer to see if anything can be done.

Good luck with yours, and keep us posted.

Yeah for some reason now my car isn't throwing the "service" warning for the sensors anymore which is great!! But I still hear those damn brakes sounding bad and it's only on the right side front. I'm not sure I can ever get used to that lol... IT'S LOUD!

As far as the extra weight of the wheels, my Ram came with the optional 20" wheels so I'm not sure if it is indeed that but like I said, it's only the right front that's making the noise.

I suppose if you want to spend 50K+ on a truck with all the add ons go for it. I spend all day staring at a computer and the LAST thing I want when I jump in the truck is to stare at yet ANOTHER screen. The basic radio and the memory stick work fine for me and sound pretty good. My brakes dont squeal and the only problem I've had was the 3rd brake light had poor insulation and let water in the cab. I fixed that myself and fixed ir RIGHT so it wont leak again. But I'm old school. It's a TRUCK. And mine's a damn good one.

People who ride the bleeding edge of technology are more forgiving of technological issues with that technology. That's true. However, the technology in question is not bleeding edge. For the American automotive industry, maybe, but not when compared to phones or computers or even other countries' automobiles. If you look at the example about iPhones having had issues, the issue was identified and fixed within a month or two. If you spent 300k on a brand new house, would you tolerate the roof leaking and wiring issues? Probably not. You might expect a couple things because of new construction, but you'd lose your patience very quickly if they weren't properly fixed the first time.

There used to be an old joke in IT about how if Microsoft made cars, they would periodically just stop, on your drive to work, and you'd just start it back up and continue on as if nothing happened. In reality, people that worked in the industry started to get really annoyed at the blue screen of death. So much so, that Microsoft invested a LOT of money in to rewriting things so this didn't happen. The new OSes are MUCH better because customers were getting angry and they were losing market share to other operating systems like Linux.

Let's face it, pickups are these companies' bread and butter. They have the highest markups too. Even so, they lack basic treatments that exist on cars selling for 20k. Why not galvanize the body panels for rust prevention? What about treating the frame with a better coat of paint? Under my seat and behind my dash? Nothing but white metal. How much would a single coat of paint really cost? There's no excuse to see rust after a few years and holes before you hit 10 years in this day and age. While these companies have made some excellent strides in some places, there are obviously corners being cut that shouldn't be. And it shouldn't be tolerated or it will continue. 50k is a lot of money to most people, they should expect a lot in return.

I had brake issues when I got my 2016 but it went away after a few hundred miles. I did take it to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong. I now have it with my new wheels and need to take it back to the tire shop or dealer. It doesn't always happen and only seems to happen when I brake slowly at times. Sorry for all the issues you are dealing with currently. Hope they get it figured out.

Wow, new technology or not the dealer really ought to be pulling out all the stops to make the buyer happy. I bought a new 2017 a couple of months ago because I like the model and it was a deal I could not pass up, but you pay enough for any new vehicle, and you should be able to expect better service than what you're getting here.

^^^. Now this I totally agree with. I wanted a 2018 Limited with all of the bells and whistles. They found it for me and it was even the color that I was looking for. Sadly I needed/ wanted more interior space then what it offered. With the 2019 I wanted it kept as simple as possible K.I.S.S as I wanted NO new age problems !

Have you tried to bed in the pads?
Do you know how to?

Read up on Bedding in procedure.
I have a 2018 Charger Scat Pack, and I’ve cleaned and relubed them. Noise came back.
I bed in the pads and noise is gone.
I’ve done this on previous cars as well. Most of which had Brembo brakes. But bedding in pads is universal.

I did the same on my 2018 Scat Pack and it got rid of a squeak at very slow speeds. First thing you should try if you have newish brakes that squeal is bed them. Especially before putting effort into taking parts off.

When you pay 40-60K for a new vehicle, pulling of wheels and screwing with brake pads in NOT something that is acceptable. Make the dealer work! Go buy a $60k Acura/Lexus/Audi/MB and tell me about the brakes. Heck no. If this was acceptable, every stop light in traffic would be horrible as everybody's car would be screaming.

I got rid of a Mercedes E Class after the dealership tried over and over and over to get the brakes to stop squealing. My 750Li BMW squealed from time to time. With the Mercedes, I just couldn't live with it.......those metallic performance brakes just wouldn't stop squealing and they chafered them and everything. I got my BMW to stop by going to a less performance oriented metallic brake pad......but they weren't optimal. I guess I'm saying .............German cars can and do have the same issues. That Mercedes was $65K, that BMW was $100+K (I didn't buy new--bought as CPO). We still have a Mercedes in the garage......they aren't bullet proof!

Not saying they are. But I have bought new an Audi A4, Nissan Titan, Chevy Tahoe and Ford F-150. NONE of them had squealing brakes from the dealership. Chevy had electronic gremlins with the Nav system (2009). Nissan NEVER had any issues in 70k miles (2005), Audi never had issues (2013) and the F150 had a slip yoke issue at the rear end and a sunroof that decided to self destruct both easily covered under warranty (2013). I have expectations that go along with the $66K price tag of the Ram limited that I ordered.

F150s 2015-2018s are all under recall for inoperative door locks. A $50,000+ truck that gets frozen door latches when it's cold out (roughly 30 degrees). Really cold and they'd still work. Had a TSB done, then the recall, then all the latches replaced.

Only real cure is warmer weather. I had all latches replaced earlier this year and am not keeping it to find out how it'll be next winter.
