I have not posted in a long while, but I concur with your post. I had a CTD, and I do miss it. Gasoline is cheap, however. I do tow a fiver weighing more than 10k, however. I have tracked my mileage for over 6,000 miles...sitting at 13 or so on EVIC, and fuelly shows about the same. I...

6.4 Hemi HD - Mileage Thread

How many miles on these trucks? My EVIC shows 13.6 for the duration I've had truck, which is 1600 miles. 400 is towing heavy. A little disappointed, but I'm guessing it'll improve. I don't drive it on weekdays, so my fuelly hardly ever gets an update.

    5.7 Hemi VS 6.4 Hemi

6.4 here. Couldn't be happier. Best I can tell, 12 or 13 around town. 17 highway, better if you ain't got your foot in it. 8 or 9 towing 10k fiver.

    2500 gas or diesel?

I went from a 13 CTD to a 14 6.4. Couldn't be happier. Do the math and see what comes out better for you. Do remember, as others have stated, the 6.4 was designed as a truck engine and it comes with same warranty as the CTD. Gasoline prices are also falling.

    Considering a Ram 2500

You'd love the 6.4 Hemi. Better to have a little margin of safety and comfort when towing. Just my opinion. Bigger engine, bigger brakes, more payload, and fuel saving technology in the 2500.

Mine is a 2500. The fins promote better cooling they say. And it looks cool. Holds about same fluid capacity as factory. Mine is a 11.5 gear set. 4.10 axle. Tow a fiver, so I wanted a little more cooling. We shall see. I've got a log of several temps on factory cover. Will be checking new cover...

You guys with 4x4, don't forget to lube front drive axle. Here's a pic. The right grease fitting (needle) is required. [/IMG]

Thanks! I added a new diff cover this weekend. It's the AAM version you see on the dually trucks with max tow package. You have to remove rear sway bar. Pretty easy job.

Excellent mileage for 15k fiver! Many hills? I got 8 mpg hand calculated or so towing 10k, but many hills. 4.10 axle.
