The red backlight should go with this pretty well...

No real explanation needed when you have pics. These aren't mine but I will be doing this soon. Like maybe tomorrow.

That looks super simple. What gauge wire and how do I seal that connection to prevent a short?

Actually, screw that, how do I get the wire on there and staying on there like that???

It doesn't have to be a big special wire there's no load on it, that's just a really trigger the actual load goes to the relay, and you just rip some more and wrap it around the prong that shown in the picture that's it

Man I completely forgot about those pictures, they've been floating around for a long ass time

Yeah, long before I joined ramforum , I was on dodgetalk, which is where I originally saw the pics for that mod. That forum has since died for the most part but there is still really good information there, just have to dig for it.

Odd, I actually uploaded those to the forum instead of my Smugmug account. Can you see these from my account then?

I saw them fine either way, and that's on mobile where there's usually less compatibility.

Lined. Only had enough for one coat. Then again, I laid it on thick. Couldn't exactly DO a thin coat ya'know?

Tailgate pics in the next post. 55c7a1c0efbffdc00cd26c4ccb12f619.jpg138da0739b59db172bc4c20fc598f57a.jpg63fc658796d612303319be60a668b1c2.jpg29cf6123d330e419bce34f1a1631224c.jpg1fae50c2ccd56084c4962bb2d737a240.jpga6e784979e2acb5618f30e6443e2a6c3.jpg9523c00d6725b414acb19f0a248c382f.jpg

Looks good. Why did you do the brush instead of a spray kit? I’ve used an eBay spray liner that comes with its own gun for about $120

Tailgate. I have about a 1/4 can left for touch ups this week. Including finishing under the right rail. 86510879b30bb086d1b53cb9f2024b48.jpga14deb1ae6db53374c8724439293c042.jpg73c09fb3bd4cdbae364d8de370a4e443.jpga3f9fae5ec35a614ba4307ee0aaca1dc.jpgdf9b53bba1bb50a52d416be58fe1c027.jpg

Don't have a compressor yet. Thought it'd be easier.

A ruined t-shirt, big mess, 4 ruined rags, ****** brush, broken roller, and a used paint tray liner later and I'm starting to think the spray might've been easier. Or at least simpler and with less mess as long as I masked off more.

Got some on my pants and socks, too. Lucky I decided to wear work clothes for projects. 78aac42f006e75db527a9547e82b597f.jpgf080c0bb948cb0be2a3ee1e28c837728.jpg

Definitely looks messy, but you do need a decent compressor to spray stuff, so understandable

Yeah, getting a nice 40 gal compressor for $250 from my boss once I pay it off. I could lay paint with that. [emoji41]

Looks good overall. Not sure why you bothered coating the tailgate jambs and edges of the tailgate since they don't need it but it should be fine. Did you use Herculiner or something similar?

Yes. Herculiner was the exact product I used.

I coated the jambs and sides of the tailgate because there were scratches there, I knew there would be "overspray", and because there would probably be that one time where something impacted or skidded on those surfaces, causing damage.

Figured I might as well, you know? Plus it looks good and uniform this way. And I'd already primed it, too, so why not, really? I cleaned up the screw heads as best as I could....

I've used Herculiner before, it's good stuff. Nice thing is, you can go back at anytime and do a second coat or touch up if needed. I really like my LineX'd bed but the convenience of Herculiner or any other DIY bedliner is doing the touchups/repairs whenever you want as opposed to having to make an appointment and dropping the truck off for a few hours. I've got a few spots that need fixed and that inconvenience factor is the only reason I haven't done it yet.

Yep. As I said, I'm planning on touch ups and finishing under the right rail this week. I just hope the product doesn't dry in the can...
