    Yet another oil thread..

RedLine Heavy Shockproof...toss in a quart or two when you put new gear oil in. Worked for me.

To 87mm TB, or not to 87mm TB?

Nah, they use 304 SS which is pretty rust proof, and we don't have any salt down here, so it'll definitely last the 5yrs I'll have them on for without any issues.

To 87mm TB, or not to 87mm TB?

Then don't buy them? Your decision, but I'm putting headers on mine.

To 87mm TB, or not to 87mm TB?

ARH and AFE offer both options, with high flow cats or without.

To 87mm TB, or not to 87mm TB?

yeah I wanted to go short for the money savings, but went with the ARH with high flow cats, got some attachments for the o2 sensors from Vivint(sp?) that allows you to adjust the air flow by the o2 sensor to keep them from throwing codes since there's more air flow through the LT system.

To 87mm TB, or not to 87mm TB?

The headers are made for the 6.4, there’s 3-4 companies that make LT’s for the 6.4 trucks. Also the stock exhaust on the 6.4 is 3.5”. I’m glad you felt a difference with the TB and CAI. I’m torn in the CAI because I think the stock one is designed very well.

To 87mm TB, or not to 87mm TB?

Hey guys, been a while since I've posted here....I've FINALLY found someone local to install my ARH long tubes on my 6.4, it's the only real performance mod that I'm going to have done (aside from 4.88 gears). I'm not going to get a tuner, so with that in mind, since I have an easier flowing...

    Trans service

Just do both filters now, get that break-in stuff out of there so you don't have to worry about it anymore. Then every 60k just do a standard drain/fill without dropping the pan to get some fresh fluid in there. Should be fine.

    HEMI 5.7 or 6.4

    2016 6.4 108k zero issues. 2003 5.7 400k zero issues. 2015 5.7 115k lifters and cam replaced at 105k ($4000).

Yukon vs G2 or Richmond gears?

Use factory AAM gears if you’re going 4.56 or 5.13, only use something else if you’re going for something in a non-AAM size like 4.30 or 4.88 I personally use Yukon 4.88’s.

    2016 RAM 6.4 TUNER OPTIONS?

Well, I pulled the trigger on the ARH long tube headers, and I plan on getting an 85-87mm throttle body as well to get a little more intake velocity. I’m really not super concerned with getting the absolute most performance, more concerned about longevity and I mainly just drive highway miles...

    Oil weight question

I would personally grab a 5qt jug of Castrol Edge or QSUD 5w30 and add 2qts of Redline 5w30 to it to bump up the moly and calcium a bit....if you don’t want to spend the money on a full Amsoil/Redline change. This last time I did Castrol Edge 0w40 and Redline 10w40 for my 6.4, and it seems to...

    Idle hours VS drive hours

I would never ever ever run a 5w20 in a hemi, period. I'd bet money that the manual allows use for 5w30 and 10w30 depending on temps as well.

Header options for 6.4L nowadays...AFE, ARH, OBX...anything else?!?

yeah I know about ARH, and I really like them, I'm just hoping to find some equally good options that don't cost 2k :/

    Oil temp waaaay to high

My 6.4 HD runs in the 220's when cruising highway speeds, mid 230's when towing...usually stays 20-30*above coolant temp.

don't see anything for the HD trucks on their website.

Header options for 6.4L nowadays...AFE, ARH, OBX...anything else?!?

Title says it all, looking for LT header options for my 2016 6.4L 2500.

    Synthetic Oil

I'm really debating on doing that as well so I can just leave it in there for basically as long as I have this truck and not worry about it. Really just trying to find the right cocktail to get the viscosity and add pack that I need. I was debating running some Amsoil SAE190 50/50 with the...

    Synthetic Oil

Yeah that's what I did. The hum/whine was worse at startup on colder days. I'm not sure what was put into it after I went back after the 500 miles break-in period to get the fluid changed to whatever they use, but it would still bug me, especially if I was trapped in that speed and couldn't...

    Synthetic Oil

I'm using aftermarket 4.88 Yukon gears, not sure if that makes a big difference...they say it flows like a 75w90, I've never noticed any difference in any diff oil I've used. It's a 7k pound truck, don't think it really matters to be honest...not with these 4.88's at least ;)

    Synthetic Oil

And for reference, I was using 85w140 dino oil before, which did help from the 75w90 redline fluid I was originally using after doing my gear swap. But after a few days of this Heavy Shockproof working into everything, I don't even notice the little hum at all anymore.

    Synthetic Oil

Put it in my rear end trying to find a fix to a little hum between 60-65mph...heavy shockproof pretty much all but eliminated it. Yay calcium and moly?

    4.56 or 4.88 w/ 6.4

12.5-13.5 on the EVIC, majority highway miles driving around 75-80mph.

    4.56 or 4.88 w/ 6.4

Going from 3.73 to 4.56 gears at 75mph will take you from ~1700rpm to ~2100rpm. IMO, in east Texas driving (I'm in Rockwall, just easy of Dallas), that's the perfect rpm...especially since you're not lifted and running heavier tires. I have 36.5's with the Power Wagon suspension, so there's...

Who all uses their trucks like a truck!? Let’s see pics!

Just picked up 7000lbs of batteries on a 2000lb trailer, these 4.88’s make it so easy. I can maintain 70mph up a slight grade at 2100rpms in 6th. No tow/haul really needed for highway driving.
