My pinion seal is toast and spitting oil all over, planning to replace that but I'm hearing a kind of whine noise when accelerating, however I have no play in my yoke other than backlash of 1/8" rotational. Curious of what the noise may be, I have been putting oil in case to keep lubricated till I can replace seal tonight. But any ideals of what could be making this noise? Could just replacing seal and putting clean oil in be the fix?

Probably a pinion bearing going out. And causing the leak. Fix it quickly and you’ll save your ring and pinion set.

That's what I'm thinking, any reason I would hear it whining down during deceleration?
