04 odometer and gear selector leds dim out

When i turn on the truck the odometer and gear selector lights are on, but once i drive a bit they become more dim until they turn off. Is this just a fuse going out or something else? I have tried the dash test, by holding the reset button and putting the key in on position, everything works but the odometer and gear selector lights.

What is "the dash test"?

You put your key to the on position without starting the truck and press the odometer reset button on the dash. all of your gauges should move as far as they can and lights should turn on till the gauges move back to the original position. it is a quick way to find out if something on your dash has broke or burnt out.
