Hello everyone. I was looking at steel bumpers for my 2012 ram 1500 longhorn 4x4. And I noticed everything for the 2012 is stupid expensive. But I found a bumper that says it’s compatible with 2013 to 2018. That’s almost a 1000$ cheaper. So my question is will a 2013 bumper bolt up to a 2012? Thanks for any advice on this

I think the upper bumper cap is also shaped differently, airdam may be as well

I think the 09-12 bumpers look the best, try www.lmctruck.com for a bumper

That depends on weather or not you want to swap out your grill as well.

09-12 bumper/grill is shaped like this,
https://www.google.com/search?q=200...AUIDygC&biw=1680&bih=936#imgrc=GHUoz9hUdeecCM:

13+ bumper/grill is shaped like this,
https://www.google.com/search?clien....gws-wiz-img.JsAsIMVgkVw#imgrc=1x60xVqJq_mTqM:
That’s not the issue he’ll have if all he’s swapping is the metal lower half. The part he’ll have an issue with is the upper plastic “cap”.

On the ‘13+ there’s a little step down whereas the ‘09-‘13 is a straight line across as pictured...

If he decides to swap the top cap out then he’ll arrive at your predicament of having to update the grill as well.

Hell for the $1000 difference he’s seeing he might be able to make the full swap if he wanted.

There I go, making assumptions again. When the OP said steel bumper, I assumed he meant aftermarket/off road type bumpers.

With the price diff he’s seeing you may be right.....

I always thought oem style lower metal halves were just a couple hundo.

He probably is asking about aftermarket and in the case it probably depends on the brand and if the bumper needs to retain/match up to the upper plastic portion in this case...

Interesting i didn't know there was a difference in the grill and bumper mounts.
Tube bumpers from ICI for example are the same from 09-18 but ranch bumpers have 2 options one for 09-12 models and another for 13-18, though prices are the same.

Sorry for the confusion I’m looking at the steel bumpers like the road armor with the full brush guard

ok so the 13 and up bumper will bolt to a 12 frame? Swapping the grill isn’t a problem I am planning on going aftermarket anyways. I was looking at the iron cross with the full brush guard and I plan on getting it painted the longhorn tan to match the bottom of the truck

Hey Wildkarde, not sure what your after for info. But I put a 13-18 aftermarket bumper on my 2011 bighorn. Everything bolted right up to the frame, just had to upgrade the grill as well to a 2013+ style. Let me know if you have any questions.
