The front diff will need to be machined as well. Parts and labour will be more than $450/$700. You need more than just rings and pinions, pinion install kits will be required at a minimum. Probably pinion bearings as well. Overall you'll be looking at $3000 or so for the full swap.

Just curious

Just curious, why are you going to the 4.56 gearing? I assume you are running the 8 speed transmission. Are you building for off road or the strip? Seems, just my thought, that 4.56 is real low with the 8 speed unless your running a very large tire. Just wondering. Thanks

I am looking to go from 3.73 to 4.56 as well. Does anyone know if this will require a computer update for the speedo and shiftpoints?

Price that I am getting for the job is between $1,500 (for the cheap ass gearing that will make noise) up to $2,400. But that is just for the swap, not sure on the programming.

From the dealer looking at $3,200, and they cannot touch the programming.

No programming is required. Ram's read the speedo off the carrier not the transmission output shaft. So it will be correct regardless of the gear ratio. The only thing that requires programming is a change in tire size.

Going from 3.73 / 4.10 to 4.56 will not require a re program for the computer of the speedometer. Not absolutely sure if the computer setting is the same between 3.73 and 4.10??? If anyone knows the answer, I sure would like to know. It would be nice if the shift points could be quicker at a no load condition. Can get it to shift somewhat early but have to go very easy on the throttle and can sometimes feather it slightly to get the quicker shifts. In town, quicker is better for fuel economy and the power is still there. Just hand calculated mileage yesterday and town and 9 mile hill driving in about 250 miles was 16.2. Just turned 18k so I think it is finally breaking in nicely.
