Today while heading to the store, my electric power steering just quit. Fortunately I was able to get it into a parking lot safely (but not without considerable effort). Tried starting it a bunch of times to see if it would clear up, nope. Called a tow truck which showed up 2 hours later. He gets in, starts it up and the power steering is just fine. He's looking at me like I'm an idiot and I'm telling him, "dude I tried it like 5 times before you showed up!"
Drove the truck for about 30 miles after that and it was just fine. I have no idea how it fixed itself.
I know there was a recall for some of the 2016's - mine isn't in that recall. (And that the NHSTA is launching an investigation)
I've read that there might be an issue with a connector to the e-steering?
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there some sort of a quick and dirty fix to get it working again?
