It seems I am not getting very good FM reception no matter my location. Anyone have an idea what might be the problem?

I have a Cummins (!) too, but it is a '19. My radio reception doesn't seem very good either. I suspect it is because they went away from a real antenna to the shark fin.

I like the picture of the "Cummings' truck!

:Big Laugh: All joking aside - the shark fin antenna is for internet, cell, satellite radio, and GPS signal capture. Your FM antenna is still mounted around the window frame, or in the back window of a vehicle.

Nope. FM antenna is in the shark fin on the passenger side roof of the truck. Satellite radio and gps is in the puck on the driver side of the roof.

If that is where the FM antenna is no wonder the OP is having reception issues. Technically, an FM antenna needs to be around 28" vertical or dipole to work unless you live under the transmitter.

Don’t know. All I can say is, my 2017 2500 started life with the old mast antenna, then I swapped in UC5 and retrofitted the FM shark antenna, and I have zero difference in reception between the two, it’s fine. Same with all the other 5th gens I’ve been in, no reception issues.
When I installed the shark fin FM antenna, in order to make it work, I had to change the antenna configuration in the bcm from passive primary to active primary antenna.

My 22 Ltd Longhorn 2500 gets very good FM radio reception. No different from my 18 2500 or any other vehicle I've owned over the years.

That’s for 4th gens, which still had the regular mast antenna.
I was not guessing when I said that the FM antenna is in the shark fin on these 2019+ HD rams and 5th gen rams.

They just did a recall on my radio, I have no idea what they did? Didn't notice anything wrong before they did the recall. Truck was in for maintenance, service writer mentioned it.
