i just need some direction on some decent airbags for my 1500. They don't have to be the best things out there as I won't be hauling our big trailer very often. Just looking for a little boost when I do have to pull it. So if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated!

The ones I see talked about here most are Airlift 1000 on the low/cheap end and Firestone 5000 on the high end. I'm on my second truck with the latter and couldn't be happier. Airbags are a great supplement to make towing near a truck's max more stable and level. I really like the way they stiffen the hinge between the truck and trailer, and cut the bouncing over rough roads.

How do the Firestone's install? I was looking at the Airlift 5000's and you have the grind the bumpstop mounts off the truck to install them. No removing them or going back!

I pull 3-7k a couple times a week. The air lift 1000 has been fine for me for about 2 years so far. Can't beat em imo

They are easy to someone who works on trucks but probably hard if you don't. I believe the bump stops are removed. I'm pretty sure the guy that installed mine gave me the stops and they are sitting in my garage. I think I paid around $600 for the bags with installation. I'm happy to just go work for a few hours and pay someone else to install things like this for me.

I will likely be picking up the Air Lift setup by early/mid spring. Before we head out on our first trip in the new to us 28’ travel trailer. I’ll be running bilstein 5100s up front at likely 2.1 with the bags in the rear to prevent any squat when towing or hauling.

I had them on my lifted Chevy Trailblazer on 33’s with rear springs and they helped nicely with the added load of the steel bumper and off-roading gear in the cargo area. I’m sure they’ll be great on this truck too.

If you want good high quality with a top knotch fit and easy no cut install you want the Timber Grove air bags.

Wow! The Timber Grove setup looks solid!! Little bit more than the Airlift, but looks to be MUCH higher quality. This is going to be a tough call.

Thanks WC, that looks like what I'm after, I specifically don't want to have to cut the bump stop mounts off my truck.

Have the air lift 5000s on my 2500 and couldn't be happier with the quality from Air lift. Good luck

The problem with airlift is the want you to cut the bump stop mounts off on a 1500 which is crazy.
Timber groves bags require no cutting and are simple to install along with being top quality.

If it was not for cutting the bump stops off I am sure the airlifts would be great.
