Ive been getin an antifreeze/coolant smell in the cab of my truck. Cant really tell where its comin from, im assumin from the vents lol but I notice it more when im in fifth cruising along at 50ish. And when the vents are OFF with the heat selector to the HOTTEST position. Its not as noticeable with the defroster on...whether it be on low or high. Could it be the heater core startin to sh*t the bed?

Ive checked my coolant in the radiator usually around ever oil change (3,000 miles) and its been stayin at the same level, up high, and its got a nice clean green color to it too. The trucks runs at a normal steady 180-190ish too, if that helps lol

Hmmmm, I would smell coolant in my Gen2 as well, but never through the vents. My problem was some corroded freeze plugs.

You cant tell if your freeze plugs are corroded by looking from the outside of the motor though, can you? Im thinkin its more of the heater core too though...

Sure you can, normally you can see coolant seeping from them. Mine started out seeping very little at first, to where I only had to add about a quart of coolant every other month or so.

Just had my heater core changed and I can't drive the truck long with the heat on..the antifreeze smell will make you sick...had the carpet steam cleaned and I would think the smell would be getting better but its getting worse...any ideas...cost me 900 bucks to have it fixed...

Got 'dem ol' heater core blues...oh yeah.

As far as smells go I had to pul my flooring and rinse out the underlayment. It was soaked and I mean soaked to the bone. Those heater hose clamps have to be tight!

When my core went it started as a smell then turned to steam.
