sorry, plugs in under steering column, runs through firewall, plugs into the engine harness, brakes, ABS, fuse box (PDC), left headlight, airbag sensor, fans, and another harness that runs underneath the truck.

What's the problem with the original harness? I'm in the process of cutting up the engine harness on mine.

The engine harness will unplug and you can lay it out on a table to make repairs. It's not difficult. Good luck..

Getting it out and back in will be your biggest pain in the a$$.

Greg is right splicing wires is easy. Some solder and shrink wrap. May take a little practice but not hard. Cut out the bad and install the new. The right way.

How did the previous owner splice the wires?

has the whole harness patched in one spot by firewall with connectors crimped on each side.

Those crimp connectors could be your problem. I have done electrical work for 17 years and have used them on everything even my truck. When I first joined RF someone posted about those crimp connectors being crap. I asked WHY.
The response I got was While the truck is moving it creates vibrations throughout the truck. This can cause loose connections at the crimp and a loose connection where they plug in. And the connectors that tap into a wire by biting over it actually can cut some strands of wire. This in turn decreases the wires ability to conduct electricity.

Well I had no way of arguing because it is very possible. Messing with a mechanic this week going over my truck and the connectors and was given the same info.

In short solder them and use shrink wrap to protect.

This makes for a great discussion and for what it's worth I solder mine. But what I have been told is that crimping and soldering are both good processes. Good crimping relays on using good tools and soldering requires good technique, both need to have quality heat shrink use to deaden the vibration and to keep moisture out. Good luck....

This what I found.
The P0645 code is stored if an open or short exists in A/C clutch relay control circuit.
Relay being the main suspect.

If not a relay then perhaps a wiring issue. There isn't much in the circuit.
