cruise control issue

hey guys, brand new to the site. hope im posting this in the right spot.

ive got a cruise control issue and heres the details. cruise light comes on for 2-5 seconds then shuts off, have never been able to set it. brake switch seems to be operating properly, connection is not corroded or broken. cannot find a vacuum leak anywhere, all brake lights work even on back of cab. switch on steering wheel seems to work, connector is fine and has ground to it at all times, since the light does come on im assuming the switch works. thanks in advance for any insight as to the problem

My truck does the same thing sometimes. If i press it a few times or push and hold it for a few seconds it usually stays on. I'm wondering if mine has to do with a clicking i hear in my steering column when I turn the steering wheel.
