Dash bolts won't go it ??

The only bolts that I tightened hold the cover on to like AC components and everything else. It should have no effect on the alignment on the bolts to the top

Any bolt that can keep the unit from moving can cause problems. DO like I suggested and loosen them just enough so the whole unit will wiggle a bit. Even a small bit of movement can help out here.
