Electrical question

I would to install a plug for my boat winch on a 2022 Ram. The hot wire is a 10 gauge wire. I have the Aux switch modular on the Ram, I’m thinking they’re not adequate for the power needed for the winch. Would it be OK to wire the positive lead directly to the battery. My big concern is interfering with the truck wiring system. Thanks

Every winch I've seen was wired directly to the battery.

Have you considered using a relay activated by the aux switch?
