Howdy
I'm a third gen mechanic helping a buddy out on his mess of an engine problem. I specialize in GM and these dodge engines throw me off.
Here's the rundown
Radiator blew (like exploded) coolant went everywhere.
He stopped the car and replaced the radiator within 3 days
When he started it up it had a knock and was backfiring.
My OBD scanner had the 300 misfire codes and 02 sensors
He had a cold air intake installed and I'm pretty sure he sucked in some coolant.
Compression is fine
Timing checks out
head gasket test passed
Changed spark plugs - one was fouled and bent pretty bad
Changed Ignition coils
Cleaned Throttle Body
Cleaned the IACV
Pulled the Fuel Rail and cleaned it out
Put on new 02 sensors
Put new catalytic converter on it
The knock is gone but now it stalls at idle and it's not throwing any codes.
I'm not charging him for labor and get dealer parts cheaper than Amazon prices but we're about tired of throwing money at this thing.
I thought about going down the list of new iacv, cam sensor, crank sensor, and pcm until something worked but like I said... money.
I can't find an EGR valve on this thing. It looks like someone pulled it off and bypassed it.
Any ideas?
