Just a quick check on car-part.com for an engine for 06 ram with a 3.7 most of the engines that come up on the search are from jeeps and a few liberty's so I would say yes based on that data. You could call a local junkyard and they should have compatability charts or whatever they're called to make sure.

Thank for the help. That's kinda why I asked. Any idea why the 08 Jeep 3.7 takes a lighter oil than the 06 Ram 3.7? Are the sensors backwards compatible? Will I need to swap the control modules and or computer as well?

You can swap it no problem however You need to use your old oil pan or just get a new one the ram pan is diffrently shaped.

According to my local pick a part (nvpap.com), fitment is as follows
  • DODGE 1500 PICKUP 06 3.7L (VIN K, 8th digit)
  • LIBERTY 06 3.7L (VIN K, 8th digit)
Not to say other year engines wouldn't work, but, you'd probably have to change some things like sensors and maybe some hard parts like oil pan.

Thank you.
The donor Liberty is an 08. (If that matters...)
Oil pan bolt pattern the same? Any jeep sensors shaped different that Dodge harness won't match?

I intend to use the pan and sensors from the Dodge.

Status update.
Slow but determined!
Ram engine being locked up had to be pulled with torque converter attached. Slid right off the trans. shaft. No problem..
Ditto Jeep engine with TC attached. Slid right off..

Question 1. Is it necessary to seperate the TC from the engine to install the engine?
Identical Same part number on both TC. so I'm going to use the one attached to the replacement engine. Rather not disassemble if unnecessary..

Oil pan actually appears identical.

Different motor mounts. Shape and attach location...

Different exhaust manifolds. Shape and attachment angle.

No ERG on the old so I improvised a cover plate to replace it and sealed off the port* Will that be problematic?

My 1st engine swap. Forgive my ignorance.

yes you need to remove the torque conveter install it back into the trans do not use the one that came with the engine use your old one. Yes you will need to swap your old exhaust manifolds as far as motor mounts just swap from your old engine they will bolt right on the holes should be there. Sealing off thwe EGR you should be fine since your truck didnt have a erg valve you said if it was the other wa around it wouldnt work.
