Gear shifter on 2014 Ram 1500 Sport will notgo into park.

Ihave a problem with my indash gear shifter on my Ram 1500 Sport. It doesn't go into park and stays on Accessory, thus, draining my battery and it's annoying to disconnect the negative post when I go some place. I bought another gear shifter, replaced it and it still does the same thing. It will not go into park! Thanks!

Do you have to set the emergency brake when you park or is the transmission physically in park anyway? Does the indicator lights above the shift dial blink 'P' when you attempt to set it in park? From what I've seen on youtube, the 8 speed won't go into park if it detects any speed still being reported.
