Why in the world would you start it BEFORE changing fluids? I understand cranking it over to get water out...But then putting em back in and starting up? Seems to me just cranking with the plugs out won't get ALL of the water out...Id feel much safer changing fluids after shooting the water out...then start it...and change fluids again after that too

Im speaking from personal experience..... its locked bro. I locked up my old furd a couple years ago in a bigass mud/water hole. Needless to say a wave of water OVER the cab is definately no good, lol.

This ^ is why I havent wheeled my Ram hardly, lol.

Edit: What do ya'll mean by cranking the motor over by hand? How would one go about doing that? We tried pulling my truck forward while it was in reverse, I guess to spin it back and pump any water out, but all efforts were to no avail. Yanked the plugs..... they were brown :(

Bear, if you got a crppled motor, it is not a good idea to spin her with the starter or pulling. You don't want to break anything more with a uncontroled spin. Put a socket and bar on the crank bolt and roll it over to see if there is anything broke or bent. Hydrolocked motors oftenr bend the rods.

Jeremy, where are you man, hell it was just a engine, hope you haven't done anything foolish. I hate it when you have to talk them down....

With the plugs out these motors are not to bad to roll over with a breaker bar, still takes a good amount of yank though.

Your all good, its a 50/50 shot on being ok or not to do it that way. Sure is alot quicker if nothing is damaged to clear out the cylinders, just make sure ya pull the fuse for the ignition, noting like **** sparking when you dont want it to.

Sounds like a bent rod. You can get to it from the pan if it's just a rod. You wouldn't be the first to get lucky that way.

Sorry to hear it won't turn over. Yep, water doesn't compress very well. My guess is a bent rod as well, hope it isn't too bad for you...
