Hey everyone!

I just bought a 3.Gen 2500 SLT.

A Ram truck has been a dream of mine since I was a kid and finally I got one :)

It was imported to Norway from Baltimore -other than that I have very little info about the cars history… obviously the truck has been lifted at some point but I can’t find out how much ‍…

I am planning to do some work on it and put 37s on … would be nice to have an idea how many inches it has been lifted for further planning

Thank you for your help in advance!

I attached a bunch of pictures!

Best regards,
Ben

Hello and welcome. Pictures didn’t show up. If that’s the truck in your avatar I’d say 4-5” lifted based on a very small image.

Take some measurements from the center of your wheels to the lower edge of the fender, and someone here with a stock truck can give you a difference.

thanks Mike! :)

So this was the factory configuration?

I was wondering that, but could not find anything that would suggest that in the original spec sheet…

I found several parts stating the RC (RoughCountry) logo - did they come with that from the factory back then?

Seems like they are primarily an after ales company otherwise: https://youtu.be/VcT3KNsowWg

Is RC a good brand for lifting kits?

As a newbie I get the impression that Carli is the holy grale for aftersales-suspension … any thoughts on that? :)

Looks like someone crammed lift coils in their without doing any other mods. I would almost bet they put a bigger coil in their and then possibly heated it to lower it a bit. Looking at the pics of the front coils the 2nd & 3rd coil from the top has a serious twist in it causing the spring to sit off center. Does not look like they used any extended arms or steering components and that put the front suspension. When lifting like that you need extended arms to keep the axle centered and a drop drag link to keep the geometry correct. Hard to tell in the back but looks like they stacked blocks?

this joint went today … I was hoping to make it to winter when I have time to jack this thing up, rip it all out and replace the whole front suspension and steering more or less …

btw - what do you call that part that broke actually and the bar it is attached to?

That makes sense! I was wondering because these 34,4’’ tires look really small on it … all the 3 Gen trucks I have seen with a 3’’ lift and 35’’ tires seem to have much less space between the and the top of the wheel seen from the side …

to be totally honest: It rides absolutely awful on the road … it is wobbly and squeeking and rattling but is quite ok to use on gravel and around the farm … and I have been hauling and pulling quite heavy with it …

I think the entire front steering and suspension has to go …

Took some pictures of the rear suspension.

@zrock you were right about the blocks o_O

The blue and yellow lines on the one picture show the 2 lifting elements … I guess yellow is the higher factory configuration @gtomike60 and @HemiLonestar referred to and blue is the aftermarket lift?

The blue line is 3 cm (approx 1.2’’) high and yellow is 6,5 cm (approx 2.6’’)

So I guess the truck has a total of 3.8’’ lift in the back?

keeps the wheels from swaying (or tipping) from side to side. essentially holds the wheels in an upright position.
