I have a 2019 3500 duelly with the HO 6.7 and read today the below 3 year old comment on Reddit. I don't tow very often at all and I'd like to know how I might "tune it on 170 hp."

"I daily drive a 2008 6.7 Ram. Well it is a 2007.5 so the first models with the 6.7. I deleted it at 30k and haven’t had a single issue with the motor. Currently have 225k. I run it on 170hp tune unless I’m towing to get the best fuel mileage, just have to keep the foot out of it!"

guessing whoever is referring to a tune that adds 170 HP to the stock numbers.
If the tune was just 170hp the truck probably wouldn't get out of it's own way, not even the EcoDiesel is that underpowered and it weighs over a ton less than an HD truck.

I took his quote to mean that the tune lowered the HP to 170, not increasing it. Which makes sense since he said "to get the best fuel mileage."

LOL - 170 HP is what a '60 Chevy 283 2bbl made, talk about a resto-mod. Granted you'll probably still have more torque, which is all that matters.

Correct.

When I did the delete and tune on my 2017 CTD I had 4 tunes pre-loaded on the Edge CTS-II programmer. I could select any one of those tunes, provided by EFI Live, using a rotary switch mounted on the lower dash.

The 4th tune was, as spec'd by EFI Live, was advertised to add around 170 HP over the stock HP rating. I called it the "Oh ******* !!!" tune. :D

@Goose55 maybe if it was a gasser but as the quote goes on to state:

The hopped up +170 tune would create more power at an even lower range, very common for diesel to go up in fuel economy when tuned if you don't put your foot into it making more boost.
Most +170 tunes you couldn't tow much without major upgrades to the stock cooling along with major risk of super high EGTs that would explain why he doesn't use it towing.
