Stripped the paint off the headers and applied 1st coat of POR15 manifold paint. 24 hrs i can give it a second coat then another 24 hours until i can install them and heat them up to cure the paint. I opted for this as i could not afford the ceramic upgrade. Small half quart of this paint was $44 bucks. I have seen it used before and is an awesome heat paint.

Tommorrow I will remove the old exhaust system and hopefully the cam will arrive by Weds.
Will add pics when i get this going. Danny

Excellent! a 03 thread...
Danny, the LT's have a O2s **** in each collector. I use the passenger side **** for the forward O2s and the driver's side for the wide band. Are you going to stay with a single cat? If not then I'd recommend adding another **** on the ORY cross over pipe. I don't know if there is room on a 4x4, but on a 2wd running 2 cats fits great. If you have the spare trans pan already it's easy to add another O2s **** to the new pan for a drain. Again a O2s "plug" can also be used for the oil plug. I did this on my differential cover. Looking forward to see all this getting done.

Greg, gonna re install the magnaflow HF Cat for now. Good ideas on the wideband and drainplug idea. I also have a sensor for a trans fluid temp guage and pillar pod i got way back from Aaron but not sure were the service port for that is on the trans. Will look when i crawl underneath. Also need to fix the shifter cable fo the B&M floor shifter as i lost 1st gear.

Mario, current Cam is the Mopar Performance drop in. Was gonna go Crazy Jay plus but could not find a tuner and the DSP on an 03 is problamatic, anyhow the Mopar Cam is nice and comes on hard but only after 3 k. Option two was the 6.1 again with 6 degrees advance but the timing chain i wanted was backordered and i have already run that cam twice. My goal is more torque for towing my trailer so i am going with the comp 260 which should work good with my 2600 stall and 4.56's. If idling becomes an issue i will borrow Gregs idle up mod info and or employ the PSC -1 i also got from Greg a while back so may need your input on that buds. I am confident the 0-60 will get me close to mid fives with the LT,s/Cam combo and supporting mods. Danny

I'm not sure about a port on the trans for a temp gage. I've seen where folks have used an adaptor with a sensor to the cooler and I've seen bungs welded to the oil pan. IMO the most accurate would be to read the cooling line going to the trans cooler. I use a AeroForce gauge that reads off of the OBDII port. Welding a drain and sensor **** on to the pan seems a easy solution.

Nice! Yep thats the Idea on the Superchips. Headers are ready to go, found a **** plug for the drivers side header. Cam came in late yesterday, gonna go pick that up in town. Not a copper plug to be found anywhere "Chevy Town I live In" so i had to go with the Champion Platinum which is what is in there now but Gap is knocked down to. 40 thou so i'll throw them in for whoever buys the Mopar Cam from me. I run the platinums in the Magnum. Have found that the Gap stays more to spec than the Coppers when it comes time to change them at the 30k intervals and that alone justifies the upgrade. Iridium on the other hand is a waste of $$ and they get melted faster and only last about 20 k miles in our Motors (1 range colder anyhow)

Danny, how about NGK 5306 or one step colder NGK 4306. I use the 4306 gapped at .040.

Update: Been Busy with Daughter/Son in law/ Grandaughter moving back home (Military Posting to the Base Where I work at) so Truck was needed last couple days to haul her stuff out of my place.....yes! Managed to install the exhaust headers, off road mid pipe. Because my Catback was custom fit the pacesetter pipe to tie that in was axfew inches short. Anyhow they don,t give you a rear O2 port so had the muffler shop do that and at same time some welding and a new Pro Flow stainless muffler onto existing custom fabbed taillpipes tgat where in good shape. Truck sounds great and not too loud but just as rumbly on the HWY compared to the shorties HD muffler i had before. No drone and this new muffler is not a straight thru and IMO along eith the y-pipe junction provides backpressure. Zero rear sensor Codes (Cels). Will post up pic of that solution (Cat is Gone) along with todays work which is when i got going again. New Cam is in so i'm half way there. Been taking pics and with narrate a short Cam refresher for the 3rd Gen guys thinking of Camming. Note it makes a big job easier when the appropriate upgraded valve springs are already in place. Will fix spelling after. Danny

Thanks Aaron the Pacesetter are from past inspiration of a certain Black 03....lol. So the Cam is done, no issued what so ever. Valvetrain is real quiet with the new rails and rods. So i let it learn the idle (PCM) until the coolant was ok and air all out (had to crack the t-stat housing momentarily and blow in the resevoir (03 thing) then idle in drive then drove around the village for 10 minutes and hit the hwy. I liked how it accelerated so i turned around to my favorite spot and decided to do a 0-60 just to see in drive not even bothering with the OD off. Well had to abort because all i did was seriously smoke out the 285 duratracs and leave two black marks 50-60 feet long on the road. So i look down and laugh when i see the Superchips logged it anyways, 0-40 in. 85 and 0-60 in 1.37 sec.....haularious... Gonna change the Oil then run to town for cigars. Will upload pics this evening. Still have the trans service and rear brake work to do but am very very pleased the Ol girl is a real sleeper Again. Danny
