Michelins.
My Son-in-Law is a Mechanic, at Firestone, so I can get their tires at cost.
I still buy Michelin's.
Been running them for last couple of decades.
Had a Tire leaking air. Took it in, said it was non repairable and road hazard would fix it. Asked them If I would need to upgrade all four, to get tread wear match. Guy said, nope, within not enough tread wear difference to fool with....this on tires that had 40K miles on them.
I am a Railroad Engineer. Drive my truck through Railroad Yards, over all manner of things. Never changed a flat.(COurse, now that I bragged . . . )
UPDATE:
Just bought a new set of Michelins, today.
Posted on it, in another thread but figured to update this one.
I got 90K miles out off that set of Michelin's.
The tire I talk about here?
One with the slow leak that had to be replaced?
It had over 7/32nds tread left and had 49,071 miles on it.
49K miles, on a70K miles tire!
less than 5/32nds used. at 49K miles.
That's about 109K miles per 32nd of tread.
oh, yeah, my trucks got a 3:92 POSI rear end.
Take that as you will.
Thing will flat out light them up, with Traction Control off.
Think my S.I.L might be upset.
He had literally just changed my oil, at Firestone
and they did give me a terrific price but
... they ain't Michelin's.
Michelin were not THAT much more, even after the Double Rabbi Discount
and, for me, well worth every damn penny.
