had to shut my mirror and the glass popped out, any ideas on how to get this thing back in? Looks like it was glued in somehow

Mine got knocked out once in a car wash. I just put it back in. Mine seem to use some sort of weak clip. It didn't clip in really tight but it hasn't fallen out again. That was months ago.

Yeah just push it back in place, the little square holes will hold the clips on the mirror. Just push the mirror in with out moving the mirror motor if possible. Once it stays in place move mirror down and press on top to make sure its seated all the way.

the motor has 4 rectangular holes
The mirror glass has 4 clips
the 2 lower clips are shaped like an L

fit the 2 L shaped lower clips into the bottom of the motor

Then line the 2 upper clips, they are sort of U shaped, up with the 2 upper motor clips & push the clips into place, you will hear them snap in place.
Now double check the upper clips

The dealership Parts Dept. has mirror parts in stock
Mirror Glass & lights that fit into the housing

While you have the mirror glass out
You can see a small clip on the very bottom of the housing
If the clip is pressed just a bit to the side, the signal or courtesy light will wiggle loose

Everything either unclips or can be unscrewed

For anyone reading who has the auto dimming mirror glass, they attach differently and are much harder to pop out. FYI

Wasn’t there a recall on certain 4th Gen Rams regarding the driver side mirror glass falling off??

I received a couple notices on my 2020, but ignored it since I went to aftermarket power towing mirrors…

Yeah that was a recall on 2020 driver side mirrors, some of them the glass would separate from the backing plate.

I had my 2018 parked on a narrow street and apparently someone drove by and hit the mirror. When I came out it was bent forward and the glass was hanging out. I thought it was a disaster, but the mirror housing bent right back, and the glass popped back in place, and it's been there ever since.

What is the best way to remove the mirror glass from the four clip mounts? Do you tilt the mirror down and try to pull out? Or do you try and press the clips out with a flathead screwdriver?

Disregard - I have 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, and it has a different side mirror clamping method. If anyone is in the same boat as me, I found two videos on YouTube which show the version I have and how they removed the glass. I have yet to do this, though. I'll give it a try soon.

I think I will try this Screwdriver Method around 51 second mark.
Also, I think this guy is referring to this same video. He goes more in depth about the process. I think I will definitely try this method. A 2nd Screwdriver Video
