I'm always getting stuck so this is my last shot to be happy with this set up. If not I'll just downsize

You have no tread on the 38's. You will get stuck in mud.

Added weight of the tires , plus no tread .. ya stuck

If you want to not get stuck get thinner tires .

Tire size isn't as big of a factor in getting stuck as people think. Driving ability is one of the most important things.
And seeing that you ruined the bed on your truck just to fit some ridiculous, worn out 38's under it, I'd say that is something you really need to work on...

If it was me I would wait lift the truck and put on new 38" tires or just go buy a 4x4 truck then have fun and be able to get out of the mud..

Like Dave said, you're not going to fit a 38 unless you have 9" of lift. Body, and suspension lifts both in place.

And as Mark said, it's more so about driving ability than anything else.

that wide of a tire is not safe on the stock rim.....that big of tire is going to rub bad in the back if you try to go offroad with it. Once the suspension starts flexing in the rear those tires are going to rub. You need wider wheels with less backspacing and a lot of lift(plus once you do that you can fit them on the front, but of course your truck will be a dog until you put gears in.

the size of the tires doesnt mean anything on gettin stuck or makin it thru, you could just buy some 33s or 35s with good tread and you'd have a better chance of muddin than you would with huge tires, your stock rear end will strain more pushin that big of a tire. Tires dont make you or break you, there are other factors such as how you approach the mud and how fast you drive thru it and how deep the mud is. Also, you dont have 4x4 so that limits you to goin thru really deep mud and getting out successfully. If I were you, I would forget the whole 38" tire idea and just buy some 33s or 35s with good tread that will fit on those rims and wont strain or hurt your truck until you can find a lift kit tall enough to run 38s and some lowerer gears to push those tires
