2010 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L 145K miles.

Truck basically sounds like a jet when accelerating and I can feel the loss of power. It is throwing a code (P0455 evaporative system large leak) Open the hood and I notice that on the passenger side valve cover there is a hole that I believe something is supposed to go in there but I just don’t know what that could be. It has vacuum because when I cover it with my thumb it suctions. See the images attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The fan noise could be the fan clutch gone bad and not regulating the fan speed.

With the P0455 coming up, it sounds like there's something evap related that's supposed to be connected to the open port....

I have the same truck but it’s a 2013 with 422K on it. I haven’t heard of this issue, and i don’t see any pictures attached. Once you can send some i can gladly help ya out!

Nothing has had to be replaced on her, knock on wood. I do oil changes with Pennzoil Ultra High Mileage Platinum, every 3K.

She’s a little dusty, but it looks like there’s something wrong with your valve cover.

It looks like you have a hose going from your air filter box to the valve cover correct ?

Our boxes are a little different, the inlet on mine is on the other side towards the bottom. I’m guessing that’s where the hose needs to go. I will jv weld a piece on my valve cover then run a vacuum hose to the box and see how that goes until I have time and money to buy a new cover. Will keep everyone posted once I’m done. Thanks for your help!
