It didn't tick at all like a Timebomb when I got it. It now has 54k on it. Think I may try the Pennzoil yellow bottle next time

So what is a good cheap oil that works well and doesn't make the hemi tick, I used Quaker state synthetic last time and it ticked like a blown sewing machine when it was cold. Put redline in and quited down alot. But im about over the 80+ dollar oil changes
Well my tick ended up being exhaust manifold bolts and not because of the Quaker state. I changed the oil before I realized what the tick was. Still torn on what to use. May just suck it up and use red line. You can try running walmart super tech and putting in lubegaurds biotech, poor mans redline. Same science, esters and high oil soluble moly, just less of it. Maybe even try 6 qrts whatever and one qrt redline.
Or try your favorite oil and just go up to 30 weight.
However, after seeing the results for the last 5 years, nothing will keep that engine as quiet as redline, except perhaps clone oils like Motul, but the cost is similar. It s more correct to say redline is Motul's clone, but redline's specs are better.
There are three items I don't try to save dollars with. Brakes, tires and oil.
