Anyone used the after market pistons to hold the hood open. I see them on ebay for $12.00 or more. Wondering if anyone has tried them?

Thanks

Just stick with the factory springs. The gas shocks wear out and stop holding the hood over time, the springs wont. Given the springs are currently also serving as the hinges for the hood, you'd need to make some hinges to replace them, or pull the springs out of the hinge (I recommend against that).

You have a hood prop? on a 2002 Ram? Thats a first for me. You should be able to make up some mounts and weld them on, but you'll have to do some calculations to figure out how long of gas shocks you need.

Search 2002 ram "hood lift support" and you'll find a ton of options for them. You can get brand name ones such as Monroe for only a couple bucks more so I'd probably just pay the extra to get good ones. try rock auto
