I was getting 12 mpg for the first 800 miles and I’m currently at 1050 miles and I’m getting 16 mpg does it get any better than this?

Mines a loaner and I’ve had it for over a month but, it’s got 2,400ish miles and I get 18.5 combined. I do drive 70miles a day back and forth to work though. I do take it easy on the skinny pedal, for the most part…..

YES, gets better. Below is towing, 2,150 lbs trailer and 4K of hay. Other day, took trip, over 200 miles mostly on State Hwy and IH 35 where everybody runs 80. I got a lil over 19 mpg at 80 mph. When I first bought truck, on a trip, I got over 21 mpg, but that was on stock Balloon SRA tires. I now have more tread on road, heavier Falkens AT3W's, and I lost 1 to 1 1/2 mpg, but I can still get almost 20 mpg on highway, but U are also talking 80 mph plus on IH 35 and 102 degree heat. It took almost 5,000 miles for my Non E torque 5.7 to "break in", settle down and deliver consistent numbers. It will get better once U get some miles on the motor and drivetrain. But also remember, Cruise is your friend and stay off the skinny pedal if U can. All IMHO...

Also, use good tier fuel, not Mom and Pop stuff.

ADDED: In town, 13-17 ish mpg.

If you keep your speed down to 65 mph, and keep your RPMs below 2100 when accelerating, you should be able to do better than the numbers you posted.

Unless your numbers are all city, at which point no you won't do much better than 16 to 18 in the city.

I’ve been trying to baby this vehicle ever since purchased and can’t wait to open it up! But, I noticed I’ve recently dropped back down to 13 mpg at 1050 miles. So, hopefully like what others have mentioned it will get better. Keep you posted. Thanks! Dean

Don't baby it to much during break-in,you want to vary engine speed, and don't be scared to accelerate a bit briskly fairly often during the break-in,even after break-in,don't be scared to drive it aggressively fairly often. The worst thing you can do to a hemi is drive it like Grandma and let it idle.If gas milege is a concern, don't buy a truck especially one with a hemi, lol

I’ve owned Chevy and Toyota trucks and always came close to the suggested manufacturers mpg and that’s brand new. I guess manufacturers mpg is out the door and just a number to sell vehicles!

Hemi with MDS and Etorque
Don’t want to start an argument here but on my 2022 Hemi e-torque I get a little over 26 mpg on a flat route to visit family a couple hours away, as long as there’s no big winds…mostly under 60 mph. Eco mode/MDS seems to come on maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the time driving this route. Bump the speed up on an Interstate equivalent and I drop to 21-22. I have a boat around 4000 lbs or so, and towing it on local roads still gets me 19-20. Been amazed so far but only have a couple thousand miles on it. I’ve verified with pump calculations as I just assumed the numbers on the dash aren’t very accurate. 3.55 gears though, didn’t need the towing capacity of the 3.92.

I have a feeling you’re going by the dash mileage display. I think it just calculates on the last 200km or so.
Your best bet is download a mileage app. to your phone (I use Road Trip).
That will give you real world tracking and you can compare to your dash display.
For instance my display says 15.7 litres per 100 km and my tracking app says 17.6

Bingo. Never understood the people who buy big V8 trucks then complain about gas mileage. You knew what you were getting into when you signed on the dotted line.

There are some things you can do, like running good quality 89-octane fuel, not taking off like a madman from stop lights and staying under 80MPH on the interstate... but you don't need to drive like Grandpa either.

Just remember that at the end of the day it's a 6000lb truck. Even under ideal circumstances 20 is gonna be doing good. My '19 Classic 2WD Hemi averages 20, and it weighs a lot less than a 4x4 e-torque rig.

mine loosened up a bit now at 15.5k mikes and it’s doing better. Two road trips just competed over 20 mpg. Normal commute I’m more like 17. I have 3.21 rear end and no eTorque. I drive in 2WD most of the time.

Buying a 5000 lb truck and expecting great fuel mileage is a fantasy. There are many variables to consider, differential gearing, driving habits, tire make and type, quality of the fuel you use, stop and go driving, idling etc. The estimate for fuel mileage on the dash is just that, an estimate. If you wish for an accurate reading, do the math with distance driven and fuel amount used when you refill tank. No 2 trucks are the same and the same with the drivers.

I have the 2021 Ram 1500 Longhorn Limited with the 5.7 e-Torque. We have taken this truck on a number of trips including one in June that involved 3,000 miles of travel around New England and back to North Carolina with two teenage grandchildren. We had luggage but were not loaded heavy. We averaged 20 mpg for this trip. Truck had about 26,000 miles when we started. I don't pull anything with mine and honestly have never gotten below 15 mpg. My normal local mileage is 17.5.
