So there is a now a "67A" Emissions PCM recalibration upgrade recall for 2500 and 3500 HD trucks 2013-2018. Looking for feedback on post truck performance or issues from 2019 truck owners that had the same type of recall "VB6" done in 2020 on your trucks?

I have a 2019 3500 6.7 and that flash was done. I didn’t notice much difference, but some time after that the truck began active regeneration frequently. The dealer replaced a bunch of sensors, changed the high pressure fuel pump and never could get it straightened out. It just ran awful. So I took matters into my own hands with a tune and delete.

Thanks for your feedback on your truck post PCM flash re-calibration. My understanding the 2020-2023 HD trucks are next up on the emissions upgrade recall, but no set date as of yet.

Yes, it's the typical solution when a diesel 'doesn't meet emissions,' they just make it regen more and use more DEF. Makes it more expensive for the end user. Happened to my dad back in '08 with his F450, it didn't *quite* meet emissions standards so Ford released a PCM update/reflash, suddenly it went from cleaning the DPF once every thousand miles to once every about 400 miles.

The dealer I don't think can go BACK from the updated flash unless it causes other issues. So your options are to have the recall done and have it regen a lot more, refuse the recall, or do a tune/delete.

I have a 2022 and I received an email from FCA this week stating I have this recall urgently pending. Can you refuse the recall? I have been taking my truck into the dealer for oil changes and such lately. Wasnt sure if I had a choice on whether the recall was done or not?

Some recalls yes you can tell them not to do - your dealer may NOT work on your truck if you don't have the recall done, mine gives me the option. I never had the drag link recall done on my old 'Wagon, but then it never showed signs of moving either.

With this recall I think it may depend on your state - if your state has emissions testing then you'll probably have to have it done. If you don't and your dealer does what customers want, then you might be able to refuse it.

I live in indiana, and there isnt any emissions testing here. I saw a thread on here that mentioned, where FCA was temporarily stopping this update anyway because it was killing some trucks it was installed in?

Are you sure it was for the VB6? Never had this recall listed for my 2022, I thought that the VB6 recall was for older trucks...

Correct, the VB6 recall was for the 2019 trucks done in 2020. The 67A is the current recall for 2013-2018. No release date for emissions recall has been given for the 2020-2023.

Apparently mine is a Y43 recall code, something new? Heres the verbage from the recall letter.

We are recommending the following improvements be performed on certain [2021 – 2022Model Year (DJ) Ram 2500 Pickup (D2) Ram 3500 Pickup (DD) Ram 3500 Cab Chassis and(DP) Ram 4500/500 Cab Chassis] trucks equipped with a 6.7L Cummins Diesel engine.

WHY DOES MY VEHICLE NEED REPAIRS? The Particulate Matter Sensor and Module on your vehicle [1] may not have been installed during the manufacturing process which was in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding from the California Air Resource Board

That one has been out for a while, and supposedly every one at my local dealer was done before I took delivery of mine. Still shows open though. But my DPF sensor appears to be working properly.

The Y43 recall doesn’t have anything to do with the Cummins settlement, and is completely different. Y43 is for MY2022, and is because of parts shortages, they could not install the particular matter sensor during production, so they got a variance that they could sell the vehicles without the sensor under the agreement that they would issue a recall to install the sensor on all 2022’s once they became available again.

2020-2023 Cummins equipped trucks will not have a recall pertaining to the Cummins settlement.

2019 Cummins equipped trucks already had the recall (VB6) that addressed the issue regarding the settlement. Even if a 2019 did not have the VB6 recall done, the emissions issue still would have been addressed if the truck had the CP4 high pressure fuel pump recall completed.
