I was considering the OEM starter before the last winter... It would have cost about $300 to have it installed on my truck. I'd use the lock button IIRC held down to start the truck. Everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE!) I spoke with vehemently tried to steer me any other direction.
1) Range is only as good as the OEM lock/unlock function (from 0-50 ft)
2) No feedback to the remote (not that you'd need it from 50ft away)
I went with the Compustar and I have well over 1000 ft of range... and, from wherever I start the truck, I get notified it started.. and I can find out what temperature it is outside and inside the truck.
My father bought the OEM starter for his truck, 2 months later ripped it out and got a compustar when we compared the difference.
