Replace engine block heater

has anyone ever replaced the stock engine heater?
Mine took a **** and is not heating the engine anymore.
Looks like it’s just a 13mm and it pops out with no loss of coolant.

I've seen several problems here --- largely related to the fact these things get corroded, then start pulling more amps which more often than not heats up the undersized wiring many of the manufacturers use --- Ford just did a recall.

so is it the cord or the unit that fails?
