I installed an outside inlet to the lower inlet of my S&B CAI. My intake temp. now runs about 5-10 degrees above ambient, and the throttle response while driving is better.

What did you use for the plastic scoop behind the bumper?

Brake inlet scoop from racers wholesale. If you do it put the inlet in center of lower grill. I had to cut part of the bumper bracket.

I had a similar idea to do this rather than buying the 100$ scoop I saw another guy on here cut into the stock airbox.

It would work great on a stock air box with a k&n filter.

If I were to do it over again I would do this but not K&N. S&B or green filter with ram-air into the bottom of the stock airbox.

Your brake inlet scoop looks badass, BTW.

Intriguing idea. I've got a billet chrome grill over that area that would conceal that little addition very nicely and maybe help keep a bug or two out of the filter.

How has the performance been? Have you had any issues with rain or water getting in?

Thats what i try and tell people on here but they want to spend 300+ for no reason. You can easily modify the stock box, do as you did with the ram air duct, drop a filter in and your good to go.

You setup came out looking great, very well done.

Any particular reason why you wouldn't use a K&N filter ? Is it because its oiled or ?

I am not a K&N believer. I think they sacrifice filtration for airflow.
I'm very impressed with the S&B filter media itself.

I removed my KN CAI and the tube between the box and throttle body was coated with fine dust after about 8 months.

Not trying to steal the thread here, but I'm thinking of doing a CAI after my lift this summer.... Are you recommending to not go with K&N?

The fitment of the airbox/heat shield was horrible on mine. Gaps into the engine compartment all over it. The S&B kit looks much better, but I have no experience with it.
