Either way he is wrong on what it calls for. Are you saying running 5w-30 will not void my warranty? That is not what I am hearing from Redline and others. Personally I don't think they could prove the 5w30 did any damage. They keep dropping viscosity to keep up with EPA standards per the "oil groups".
Yes...

Not exactly the same issue, but last summer when I went from Amsoil 5-20 to Amsoil 5-30, I had a code on my handheld scanne that said "Incorrect Viscosity". I have never seen an engine do this.

Only the very early trucks will do that, the majority of them being 09's and a few 08's.Up till about 2017 the owners manual said you could use 5W-30.

Hemi 6.4
The last three trucks I’ve had had hemis. 17 5.7 an 18 6.4 and 20 6.4. All three clattered on cold starts on the recommended penzoil. Worse after a short cycle of the engine.

Lubeguard worked wonders for the 17 and 18. I’ve had the my current 6.4 on amsoil since the second oil change and it keeps everything smooth.

I know of a 400k+ 3rd gen Ram 5.7,rattles like a diesel,or worse. All the time.Keeps running.Yet another hemi will have a noisy lifter and destroy the cam etc. This thing really sounds like every lifter is bad.

A young feller at a tire store owns it.And loves it. Says when it quits he'll put a 6.4 hemi in it.You see, that truck knows he is prepared. If he wasn't, that motor would up and quit quick!

Yes! Everytime my ol ladys car was put in the shop, mine would breakdown.I'd fix it...then she'd drive it.And I'd be out of a car till hers was fixed.Something not quite right about all this....
