Just going to say it, I HATE suction cup mounts. They always let go at the most inopportune moments. When I bought the backup camera system for the trailer it of course came with a sticky/suction mount, oh hell no! I had purchased and installed a Bayou Goat Mount and needed something easy to put up and take down.
I was thinking double ended magnetic mount but couldn’t find one big enough, so I was going to make my own until I stumbled on ClutchIT, a dual magnetic phone mount made like a tank. Put it on the Bayou mount and it was a job getting it back off! Attached to the built in metal plate on the dash cam monitor no worries. They recommend less than 2 lbs but a guy on a review attached a Surface Pro to it and says it stays put. Cool thing is you can virtually use this anywhere. Stick it on the hood to watch a how-to with your phone, gps, etc.
Total invested is $47 for the Bayou & ClutchIT
