I have found out just visiting with others once you start adding bigger wheels and tires, lift kits, programmers, tuners (adding extra power) adds so much extra stress on the transmissions. Then they attempt to tow heavy loads with all the above added. Just a recipe for disaster.

These transmissions were NOT designed to handle any extra stress or horsepower especially the (overdrive).

The Secrets that I’ve kind of come up with is keeping everything as close to stock as possible along with doing very diligent routine maintenance of the transmission itself.
Fresh ATF quite often is a major plus. (Drive like a damn civilized human being).

This info was not for the 8sp only the FCA 6 speeds.

SyN disclaimer: this is only the information that I’ve gathered myself on the longevity of the 6 speed.

Of course adding a deep aluminum transmission pan as well as running very good quality robust ATF is a huge plus as well.
We all know keeping those transmission temperature 170 & below is vital.

Very true syn. The fourth gen 5 them 6 speed trans were maxed out power and torque wise.

Yeah that's good Chris, the upside to what is going on politically. I can't comment further because I will get moded out of here, but there is a reason why PAO is coming back and specifically why it is in low weight oils and transmission fluids, and it is political, but I can't post the reason. But good to see regardless imo.

My loaner truck while my truck is getting the two recalls done.

2018 laramie 5.7. 2x4.

Man I got to say these half tons ride really nice and are faster than ****. Im Pretty sure they would WASTE a HD gasser in a race. fd67c3d7b8d60c9d886223f5ba55c581.jpg

My 2013 1500 was one bad machine, driving it was a daily pleasure and racing it was fun filled white knuckle acceleration. But my 2500 is my dream truck.

To add to my post that was in the wrong thread..... LOL

Just as a note or observation now that I’ve had this 5.7 rental truck for a little while the injector sound that has always been mentioned about the 6.4 hemi is substantially noisier than the 5.7.

Also the general engine noise is noisier on the 6.4 as well. The 5.7 (at least in this truck anyways) sounds very good....nice and quiet, even on cold start when I picked it up today. The 6.4 Kinda reminds me of an old tractor. A
Littler clattery all the time but gobbs of power. Though that the heavy duties are so heavy you can definitely feel that about the trucks versus a half ton when you floor it from a stop.

Are you mocking me? :)

I asked because: A) it has moly just like PUP, B) its far easier to acquire, C) is the same price as PUP and D) yes, it happens to be more PAO than most.

Lighter might be better, because cold and winter. I wouldnt necessarily rely on it during hot weather (although it could be argue the PAO would hold up better?)

where would the Redline Gods recommend buying this delectable oil for my hungry Hemi
Many places actually, you can order from jegs, summit, Amazon, redline, advance auto can get it, but best pricing is coming from forum sponsor nick@gotexhaust.

No, not mocking you. Actually M1 EP 5/20 was the last oil I used before going to redline. If I hadn't been on this forum, or any forum, and not known that there was possibly something better out there I could have possibly been satisfied with M1. If for some reason I had to go back to over the counter oil M1 would be my first choice.

I think that's my plan then... Current fill of pup until October or November, then m1 0-20 this winter. Be interesting to see if it quiets the engine down any.

Where do you live, how cold does it get in the winter? I'd check out the cold flow videos on u tube and some have been posted on here. Personally I would never, never put 0/20 in my Hemi.

Lol never. Wont even go back to 5w20.
I get free oil changes with my extended warrenty and they use PYB 5w20 and after everything I have read and seen on here about the 5.7s I opted to **** that away and use 5w30 RL to help IMO extend the life of my motor.
